Good News For You! is now on Facebook. Find it here https://www.facebook.com/goodnewsfishing/?ref=aymt_homepage_panel
Dr. Brock is excited as more and more people are fishing for men and their stories pour in. Check the GNFY! FB page for fishing updates, ideas, and encouragement. He said that last year their sales of GNFY! were awesome as an average of 200 books a day were shipped out across the nation.
If you, your church, or group of churches would like to host a fishing clinic, please contact myself or Dr. Brock (churchgrowthinternational.com) and we'll get it scheduled. He is scheduled to travel to Arkansas soon and I'm planning on heading to Paducah in March to train a larger church to reach their community using GNFY!
Please pray for the churches of Morton's Gap this week as they partner together to reach their city for Christ. This interdenominational task is being headed up by at least 4 of the churches in Morton's and they plan on saturating the city on January 28th. Pray for open hearts and open doors!
Do you need more bait (books) for the fish (lost)? Contact me and I'll hook you up!
Last Sunday evening our local church continued our study of Everyday Evangelism by Dr. Matt Queen. Michael, our teacher and discussion leader, challenged those in attendance to be thinking about how we might be able to quickly insert a "Gospel word" into any conversation; especially the quick, everyday comments we all make.
"How are you today?"
"How about this weather?"
"Did you see the game last night?"
"What are your plans for the weekend?"
All of these are everyday questions that we don't think too much about. But what if we not only answered them, but did so with a Gospel Goal? The question of "How are you today?" can easily turn into a gospel conversation with a reply of "My God has blessed me beyond measure today!" can I share some Good News with you?
We miss these opportunities mostly because our mindset is fixated on the here and now, rather than the kingdom to come. My devotional reading took me through Matthew 13-16 in the New Testament today. Jesus told parables about seed sowing, tares among wheat, a mustard seed, leaven in some wheat, hidden treasure, an expensive pearl, and fishing with a dragnet. All of these not only imply the active work of the Holy Spirit within the lives of those being conformed to His image and judgment to those who don't believe, but the work of you and I in the seed sowers, the hands of the baker, the prudence of the land purchaser and jewel buyer, and the diligence of the fisherman, casting net after net into the water. We are to be active with Him in fishing for men!
Do you have a "Gospel Goal" and are you ready to insert a "Gospel Word" into simple conversations? Give this a try this week by doing the following:
1. Pray first thing in the morning that the Lord will give you kingdom expansion eyes, everyday, everywhere you go.
2. Think about your travels for the day and purposefully think about the number and types of encounters you'll have with others throughout the day.
3. Come up with some sample "Gospel Words" to insert into everyday conversation.
4. Make a goal for the day or even the week. (ex. Today is Hope2All food bank day, so my Gospel Goal is to pass out X amount of Good News For You! books, insert a few "Gospel Words" into conversation, and attempt to pray with at least one person whom I don't know at the food bank.)
5. Write these goals down and reflect upon them later in the week. Be encouraged and share your stories with a believing friend!
Do you need more "bait" to give your friends? Contact me and I'll be glad to get you some more! (English, Spanish, and many other languages are available.)
Write something about yourself. No need to be fancy, just an overview.
