But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His Name. John 20:31 NKJV
There is hope in christ!
Take a minute to read this quote from the late author and scholar CS Lewis... “The Christian says, 'Creatures are not born with desires unless satisfaction for those desires exists. A baby feels hunger: well, there is such a thing as food. A duckling wants to swim: well, there is such a thing as water. Men feel sexual desire: well, there is such a thing as sex. If I find in myself a desire which no experience in this world can satisfy, the most probable explanation is that I was made for another world. If none of my earthly pleasures satisfy it, that does not prove that the universe is a fraud. Probably earthly pleasures were never meant to satisfy it, but only to arouse it, to suggest the real thing. If that is so, I must take care, on the one hand, never to despise, or to be unthankful for, these earthly blessings, and on the other, never to mistake them for the something else of which they are only a kind of copy, or echo, or mirage. I must keep alive in myself the desire for my true country, which I shall not find till after death; I must never let it get snowed under or turned aside; I must make it the main object of life to press on to that country and to help others to do the same.” ―C.S. Lewis, Mere Christianity
Scripture talks about this need mentioned by C.S. Lewis. Romans 2:14-16 says, "Indeed, when Gentiles, who do not have the law, do by nature things required by the law, they are a law for themselves, even though they do not have the law.15 They show that the requirements of the law are written on their hearts, their consciences also bearing witness, and their thoughts sometimes accusing them and at other times even defending them.16 This will take place on the day when God judges people’s secrets through Jesus Christ, as my gospel declares."
Our need is clear. We can't possibly pay the sin debt we owe required by God's Law. We cannot be good enough. Isaiah 64:6 says even our good things are seen by Him as filthy rags.
Since God is perfect, righteous, and just, He will judge righteously at judgment day. Judgment for sin occurs in two ways. First, physical death, which first began in Genesis 3 when Adam and Eve sinned, and is now passed on to the rest of mankind, and second, spiritual death. This is where God judges our sins and separates us from Him to a place of suffering and torment called Hell. This is why God sent His Son for you and me.
John's Gospel tells us that Jesus is "the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." (14:6) By reading Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John we learn that Jesus lived a perfect life, was killed for sins He didn't commit, and rose again just like He said He would. His sacrifice covers your sin. Do you want forgiveness for your sins? Have you trusted Christ as your Savior? Contact me or read the book of John and Acts to learn how you can become a child of His.
